The 9th and 10th July saw 50 Year 10 pupils embark on their D of E practice expedition. In the July heat wave the girls completed two days of walking around Llantwit Major. The girls were divided into 5 groups with a member of staff. The girls had to navigate themselves around two different routes, ensuring they used the skills they had learnt in lesson. After a lot of sweating, carrying heavy backpacks (told you not to overload them!!!!) and walking through many overgrown fields, all girls completed day one! Once they arrived at camp they were all ready to sleep, but tents needed to be put up and food cooked and eaten. The teachers were praying that they would be sleeping by 9pm, but our prays were not answered. They all found a second wind! Unfortunately for them they did not believe us when we said we would give them a wake up call at 5am!!!! After a few shouts in the tents, the girls got up and all tents were away and breakfast eaten by 7am. The first group left at 7.15am, ensuring that the second day walk would be out of the midday sun. All the girls completed day 2, which is a fantastic achievement!!!! Looking forward to Brecon!!!! A massive thank you to Mr Alford, Mr Twinney, Mr Richards, Miss Blucher, Miss Hougham and Mrs Kehoe who joined us on day two for not getting the girls lost!
